Erwin Blumenfeld (1897–1969) was best known as a fine art and fashion photographer — he was considered an innovator both in regards to color as well as black-and-white photography — but also worked in various other media including paint and collage. His commercial photography was featured in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.

Dark, wintery tones are stunningly captured in this image, which was originally from a fashion ad for Dayton department store in Minneapolis.
