This photo-realist painting by renown sports artist Arthur K. Miller captures celebrated pitcher Juan Antonio Marichal Sánchez, in Giants jersey glory, on the mound at the height of his trademark elevated leg kick. Marichal pitched for the SF Giants from 1960 to 1973. During the ’60s he won more games than any other pitcher. Marichal was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983.
For the past five years, Miller’s paintings have been featured in a one-man show at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. His work is collected internationally and has been featured on book covers and in periodicals.
This painting will be on show as part of the group exhibition “Rookies & Pros” at George Krevsky Gallery, San Francisco, May 8 through June 19. This is an annual show dedicated to the theme of baseball. See georgekrevskygallery.com for additional information. To see more paintings by Miller, go to artofthegame.com.
