Honoring Frederica von Stade
A star-studded roster of composers, musicians, artists, and singers joined renowned opera star Frederica von Stade on stage during a sold-out gala in Frederica’s honor. Presented by SF Opera, SF Performances, Cal Performances, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and SF Conservatory of Music, the evening was a vibrant tribute to Frederica’s life and extraordinary 40-year career. The concert was held at the Herbst Theatre with an intimate gala reception following it in the lobby of the War Memorial Opera House. Proceeds from the evening benefited two organizations dear to Frederica’s heart: University of California Berkeley's Young Musicians Program and the St. Martin de Porres Catholic School in Oakland.
