SF Opera’s Opening Night Gala, September 7
San Francisco Opera Guild celebrates the 90th anniversary season of San Francisco Opera with Opera Ball, Notte de Splendore, co-chaired by Cathy MacNaughton and Diane Rubin. Hailed as one of the city’s most glamorous cultural events, Opera Ball raises funds for San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Opera Guild’s education programs that reach approximately 60,000 Bay Area students each year. Festivities begin with an elegant cocktail reception in the War Memorial Opera House. Guests will then be summoned to a majestic tented Opera Ball Pavilion designed by renowned event architect Robert Fountain. A dinner feast fit for the Duke of Mantua will be orchestrated by the acclaimed caterer McCall’s Catering & Events, under the direction of chef Lucas Schoemaker. After dinner, the curtain will rise for the opening night performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s vivid and compelling Rigoletto, with a world-class cast led by Music Director Nicola Luisotti. Following the dramatic conclusion of Verdi’s opera, patrons will return to the Opera Ball Pavilion for cocktails, dessert and dancing the night away to the Richard Olsen Orchestra. This event is sold out, but for further information, contact (415) 565-3204.
