Global President of Banana Republic, Jack Calhoun, debuts Banana Republic’s new partnership with ODC/Dance, San Francisco’s internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company, with their performance of Transit: Next Stop. The opening night gala on Thursday, March 14, 2013 celebrates the start of ODC’s 2013 Home Season. Jack Calhoun is the evening’s honorary dinner chair alongside honorary gala chair, Laurene Powell Jobs, and gala co-chairs Lynn Feintech, Liz Fisher, and Becky Saeger. The gala will be hosted at the St. Regis Hotel, followed by a performance at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts’ Lam Research Theater. Choreographed by co-Artistic Director KT Nelson, Transit: Next Stop celebrates the chaotic pulse of our urban centers – where high and low technology exist side-by-side – walking, biking, and high-speed transit. Performing on custom-made bicycles by Max Chen, dancers’ movements incorporate elements of modern dance and ballet, while clad in head-to-toe Banana Republic clothing. Banana Republic believes work is art, therefore everyone is an artist in their work; which is demonstrated literally through the co-commissioning of “Transit: Next Stop.” For more information and to purchase tickets call (415) 863.6606 x117 or visit www.odcdance.org/dancedowntown
