If you didn’t make it to Burning Man and feel you’ve missed out on all the fun, event producer Sensation has you covered. Its 2013 tour, The Ocean of White, combines music, dance, acrobatics, and pyrotechnics for a real “sensation”, and the San Francisco show and party will occur on September 14th at the Oakland Arena. It will feature world-class DJ talent, including Mr. White, Nic Fanciulli, Prok & Fitch, Fredde le Grand, and MC Gee.
But what sets Sensation’s shows apart from other dance parties is the visual element: The Ocean of White boasts 200 different pyrotechnical effects, giant, LED-lit jellyfish suspended from the ceiling, and 22 fountains, all of them spouting in sync with the music.
Despite its inception in Amsterdam in 2000 and subsequent stops in many countries, Sensation will be touring the U.S. for the first time in 2013, and Oakland is the first city on tap. (Las Vegas, Miami, and Brooklyn will follow.) After co-founder Miles Stutterheim’s death, the large-scale traveling party and dance spectacle adopted a white theme, and that is the dress code to adopt when you don your black-light lipstick and glow-stick necklace for a night of sensorial overload.
