January 29 to February 6: Chinese New Year Menu at Hakkasan

by Teresa Rodriguez

For a few short days, the famed chef Ho is offering a delicious list of dishes to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Included on the menu will be CNY Dim Sum Platter (dried oyster shumai, Chao Zhou dumpling, chicken with corn dumpling, and crystal vegetarian dumpling). The special main courses include:

Stewed Pork Trotter with Black Moss in Brown Sauce: inspired by the Chinese saying “Whatever you put into the New Year, you will get back.”

Steamed Sea Snapper with Salted Plum in Teochew Style: in the Chinese tradition, if you eat the whole fish, you will live a full, long life.

Braised Chinese Cabbage with Mixed Mushrooms Wok-Fried Jumbo Prawns with Long Bean in Dried Shrimp Sauce: prawns represent fun, humor, and pleasure, and eating them will bring those things to you in the New Year.

Crab Meat Fried Rice with Vegetables: crab is considered good fortune, so the Chinese recommend eating as much of it as you can during the New Year.

Roasted Free-Range Chicken with Orange Sauce

This specially created menu is only available from January 29th to February 6th. Dishes can be ordered a la carte. To celebrate the Chinese New year at Hakkasan, call (415) 829-8148. Hakkasan is located at 1 Kearny Street and reservations are required.
