by July Westhale

This year Festival del Sole carries on its artful tradition once again with ten days of some of the world’s finest music, dance, cuisine, wines, and opportunities to enjoy summertime in the sun-saturated Napa Valley.
The festival kicks off on July 11th, with an opening night performance by Grammy Award winning violinist and conductor Joshua Bell, who will perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. A fabulous patrons’feast at Castello di Amorosa will follow. Opening weekend will also feature performances by the Sphinx Orchestra at the Lincoln Theater, luncheons catered by some of Napa Valley’s best and brightest chefs, and an after-party at Jamison Ranch Vineyards on July 12th. And there will be several other patrons’ dinners at various venues, as well as the magical Annual Festival Gala at Meadowood.
The celebrations will continue during the following week, with meals hosted by Tiffany & Co, wines poured by more than 400 vineyards, and an extensive array of concerts, dance performances, exhibitions, and more patrons dinners (
For health and wellness buffs, the festival will offer ample opportunity for exercise and relaxation, with the annual Yoga in the Vineyard series, as well as talks and panels on the best paths to wellness (
Closing weekend has plenty of surprises in store, including a star-studded tribute to screen legend Sophia Loren (Bella Italia!, Saturday, July 19, at Far Niente).
